Crombie: It's Time to Build a More Affordable, Safer Mississauga
MISSISSAUGA, ON — August 21, 2026 — With nominations now closed for the October 26 municipal election, Mississauga's mayoral race enters its final phase with Bonnie Crombie and incumbent Mayor Carolyn Parrish tied.
A recent Liaison Strategies poll found Crombie and Parrish each at 35% among decided and leaning voters, with the remaining candidates well behind.
With the field now set and a clear two-way race, Crombie released the following statement:
Everywhere I go, I hear the same concerns. Life has become too expensive. People are worried about safety. Traffic and congestion are taking too much time away from families. And residents want to know that City Hall is focused on getting things done.
I'm running because I believe Mississauga can do better. We can make life more affordable, build safer neighbourhoods and get our city moving again.
During my time as Mayor, we kept taxes low, created jobs, built homes, invested in transit and secured billions of dollars for Mississauga. I know what it takes to deliver.
Now I want to put that experience to work on the challenges people are facing today and build a stronger, safer and more affordable Mississauga for the future.
This campaign is about the future. I'm going to keep listening, put forward practical solutions and work every day to earn the trust and support of the people of Mississauga.
Crombie said she will spend the coming weeks setting out a practical agenda focused on three priorities: affordability, community safety and delivery.
On affordability, Crombie said Mississauga needs to bring taxes under control, accelerate housing and focus City Hall on the pressures facing homeowners, renters, families and seniors.
On public safety, she will put forward a comprehensive plan addressing violent crime, home invasions, extortion and organized crime, alongside investments in prevention and opportunities for young people.
And on transportation and delivery, Crombie will focus on reducing congestion, improving transit reliability and bringing greater urgency and accountability to major projects.
